Crunchy Spider Legs / Bird Nests
It is a perfect time for a tasty chocolate treat, and what better than Crunchy Spider Legs? These are also known as Haystacks or Bird Nests (with a minor recipe adjustment). Either way, they are an easy and craveable springtime treat.
First we need to gather the special giant spider legs from Myst Spinners on Bloodmyst Isle… or we can skip that part and use chow-mein noodles. Much easier. It is well worth a visit to the isle anyway to see the beautiful blue-green fields of grasses, plenty of wildflowers, and tall evergreen trees. White deer can be glimpsed through the trees. Red crystals are found all over the isle – unfortunate but beautiful shrapnel of the crashed Draenei’s spaceship that is now a part of the land. The Draenei refugees are friendly, and making the best of a challenging situation, learning about the new planet that will become home. We welcome them and teach them all about the foods here on Azeroth.
After gathering ingredients it is a simple matter of melting things together, portioning out, and chilling it to re-harden the chocolate.

Crunchy Spider Legs / Bird Nests
Equipment
- Large pot
Ingredients
- 8.5 oz chow-mein noodles
- ½ c peanut butter (creamy works best)
- 18 oz (1 1/2 regular-size bags) chocolate chips (milk chocolate or semi-sweet)
- 1 large bag Peanut and/or Peanut Butter M&M's (optional)
Instructions
- Spread a large sheet of wax paper or parchment paper on several cookie sheets.
- Pour chocolate chips into a large pot and heat on low until they are almost melted, stirring often. Keep an eye on this so it doesn't burn!
- Add peanut butter and stir until smooth.
- Remove from heat.
- Pour in all of the chow-mein noodles and gently stir / fold in until the noodles are completely covered in chocolate. Do not break the noodles if you can help it.
- Spoon out the mix with a tablespoon and set the spoonfuls on the prepared cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.
- For Bird Nests, shape the mounds with an indentation in the center (nest-shaped) and put a few M&M's into each indentation right away before they cool.
- Refrigerate for 1 hour to set the chocolate, or set on a counter in a cool location for 2-3 hours until the chocolate sets. (note – if the room is warm, the chocolate will take much longer to set)
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
