The Lich’s Heart
Today we are venturing to the the Shadowlands for a cocktail called The Lich’s Heart. I love a good fancy drink, especially if it comes in a fun glass. This is a tomato-based drink, sweet and tangy, and very easy to make.
To get to the bar, take a portal from one of the local mages to the realm of the dead’s main city of Oribos in the Shadowlands. Hop on a giant flying wyrm-energy creature for a ride through the ether to Maldraxxus, where souls of warriors hone their skills. The flight includes a full aerial tour of Maldraxxus. We are heading for the House of Rituals in the far northeast. This is a very dry land with the few plants looking mostly blackened and burned. Stone pillars and mesas interrupt the bare dirt hills. Gray stone roads lined with torches guide travelers to the large arena in the center where monsters are summoned and defeated. The land is very brown. I mentioned the fun glass, right?
The flight-taxi service drops us off near our destination, an open-air bar that is a slab of rock with shelves carved into the stone wall behind it. There are large wooden posts driven into the dirt that hold up a very worn and patched cloth for shade. A jumble of mis-matched furniture that has clearly been scavenged over the years from trash heaps on several different worlds. It is not the most classy place, but the Orcish bartender is very friendly and enthusiastic about his drinks. We are regaled with heroic tales of battle by everyone we say hello to, or wave at, or walk near. They don’t get many visitors.
